    Hyderabad News: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be reconsidered if the party forms the government at the Centre. Addressing a gathering in Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district as part of his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Gandhi alleged that the current GST regime and the demonetisation decision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in 2016 devastated small and medium businesses. . “When our government takes over at the Centre, we will rethink on GST and there will be only one tax (slab), not five (slab),” he said.

     

    ‘BJP and TRS work together’

    Rahul Gandhi promised that if the Congress forms the government in Telangana, the Forest Rights Act will be fully implemented for the benefit of the tribals. Terming CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao, also known as KCR, the “king” of the state, Gandhi said that KCR’s aim was to grab the land and money of the people of Telangana. The Congress leader alleged that BJP and TRS work together and support all the bills introduced in Parliament by the NDA government. He said, “On one hand BJP is spreading hatred and on the other hand TRS supports it. Whatever the BJP wants, TRS does it in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

    ‘Youth are uncertain about future’

    Gandhi claimed that unemployment was at its peak and the youth were uncertain about their future after spending lakhs of rupees on their education. He said that he met handloom weavers today during his march and came to know that GST has ruined his life. He said that though it is not easy to walk for seven or eight hours a day during the journey, but it is possible because of the love shown by the people. It is known that ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on 7th September.
