Dead body lying in the court premises.
A prisoner who came for production in Saharsa Civil Court today was shot dead in broad daylight. The criminals fired three bullets at him and then ran away waving their weapons. The prisoner died on the spot. This is the first time such a case has come to light in the district.
The prisoner has been identified as Prabhakar Pandit alias Prabhakar Kumar, 20 years old. He was accused of several cases including murder and Arms Act. However, the police have caught a criminal who came to kill him.

Saharsa SP Lipi Singh reached the spot as soon as the information was received. He said that the investigation is going on. A person who killed has been arrested. CCTV footage is being scrutinized. A weapon and 5 bullets have been recovered from the spot.

The soldier told eye-witness
Constable Kailash Karna was present at the time of the incident. He told that the prisoner named Prabhakar Kumar was being taken to the custody of the court campus after producing him near the chamber of ACJ-1. During that time they were coming down from the stairs of the verandah. Then three boys standing near the ladder started firing. The prisoner died on the spot due to bullet injury.

According to the constable, three people were already present in ambush. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos. Taking advantage of this, 2 people managed to escape. But one person was caught.
According to information, Prabhakar Kumar was a resident of Saharsa’s Bangaon police station area. Case number 129/21 and case number 130/21 are registered on it. About a year and a half ago, in October 2021, he was arrested by the then Police Station President Kamlesh Kumar near Cheena bridge on the Saharsa-Supaul main road.
