Prisoner died during treatment in Bettiah: Was in jail for seven years on charges of murder, was admitted to hospital

An inmate died during treatment at Bettiah Government Medical Hospital on Wednesday. The deceased prisoner has been identified as Vijay Singh (60), a resident of Bhabhata village of Sathi police station area. He was undergoing treatment at Bettiah Government Medical Hospital since November 18.

In the year 2015, he was lodged in jail in a murder case in Sathi police station. Jail Superintendent Amarjeet Singh said that Vijay Singh had come to Mandal Jail on August 12, 2015 in Sathi police station case number 159/15. He was living in the old age ward of the jail. On November 16, he was brought to the medical ward of the prison on the complaint of chest pain. Where he remained till 17 November. He was admitted to the Bettiah Government Medical Hospital on 18 November due to ill health.

He died during treatment here on Wednesday. Let us inform that about half a dozen relatives of the deceased are lodged in Mandalkara in the same case of murder. The Superintendent said that Vijay Singh’s age is recorded as 60 years in the government files. But his family members locked in jail have said that his age is about 75 years. Due to being very old physically, he was kept in the old age ward.
