Preparations for municipal elections have also intensified at the administrative level and the candidates have also jumped into the campaign. Elections will be held in two phases in two Municipal Councils, one Municipal Corporation and five Nagar Panchayats in Bhagalpur district. In the first phase, polling will be held on December 18 and counting on December 20 in Sultanganj Municipal Council, Navgachia Municipal Council, Pirpainti Nagar Panchayat, Kahalgaon Nagar Panchayat and Akbarnagar Nagar Panchayat.
In the second phase, voting in Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation, Sabair Nagar Panchayat and Habibpur Nagar Panchayat will be held on December 28 and counting of votes will be held on December 30. The most interesting in this will be the election for the post of Mayor in Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation. There are nine candidates in the fray for the post of mayor. All are female. Outgoing Mayor Seema Sah, Dr. Vasundhara Lal, Shweta Priyadarshini, Amrita Raj, Savita Devi, Khushbu Kumari, Gajala Parveen, Pratima Devi and Rafat Bana have entered the fray. Most of these promotions are being handled by her husband. The husband is busy in gagging the waiters.
Seeking support from the camps of political parties as well
The outgoing Mayor Seema Sah’s husband is Zilla Parishad President Tuntun Sah. While Savita Devi’s husband is JDU MLA Gopal Mandal. Apart from these, Gajala Parveen’s husband is Sain Ansari. While Dr. Vasundhara Lal’s husband Dr. Bihari is Lal. Whereas, Khushboo Kumari’s husband is Naveen Singh. These people themselves have started campaigning for their candidate. They are seeking support and cooperation from the camps of different political parties. The outgoing Mayor Seema Sah has called a team of artists from Delhi for campaigning and efforts are on to woo the waiters by presenting street plays in their support.
