Auto drivers in Purnia allege that the Municipal Corporation collects various types of service charges from the drivers by making excuses. For non-payment of service fee, the henchmen of the sensor forcibly collect the fee. If an auto driver does not cut the barrier before 3 o’clock, then the people of the sensor forcibly collect 100 to 500 rupees in the name of fine. The auto driver complained from DM to Municipal Corporation, but there was no hearing.

In the urban area, the contract for auto parking and barrier recovery at the square-intersection has been given to the outsourcing ie sensor. More than 4000 autos operate for different routes only in Purnia Municipal Corporation area. Sensors recover from all these in the name of auto parking and barrier.

Everyday Rs 15 is charged from an auto in the name of barrier. 60,000 per day from 4000 autos, 1 crore 8 lakh in a month and 2 crore 16 lakh in a year, whereas the sensor pays only 65 lakh annually to the Municipal Corporation.

Why double tax?

Auto drivers told that we pay all taxes including vehicle fitness, road tax to the government. Still recovery is done in the name of auto parking and barrier. There is no drinking water, toilet, shed in the stand. Auto drivers have accused the Municipal Corporation and the sensor of extortion in the name of barrier.
