10,000 artificial inseminators will be trained for breed improvement of milch animals in the state. Along with training, they will be given the responsibility of breed improvement by providing kits. Secretary, Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Dr. N. Sarvan Kumar said these things at the National Milk Day program organized on the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien at Bamati on Saturday.
Emphasis needs to be laid on adoption of scientific techniques to increase milk production. Emphasizing the breed improvement of animals, good quality semen should be used from the semen station established by the department in Purnia. Told the officials to inform the animals about the importance of balanced diet. There is a need to check the quality of private animal feed products available in the market. Along with animal health, vaccination, anthelmintic, infertility treatment, asked to give information about clean milk production to the animal parents.
Comfed members were instructed to get training. Vijay Prakash Meena, Director of Animal Husbandry and Co-Director of COMFED, talked about forming new committees of animal herders and strengthening the sales system to increase milk production. Dairy director Sanjay Kumar said that milk production in the state was 47.03 lakh tonnes in 2004-05, which has now increased to 115.02 lakh tonnes. Dairy expert from Maharashtra, Dr. Chandrakiran N. Sant explained the techniques to reduce the cost of milk production.
Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology Prof. Veer Singh, Director of the Institute of Development Management, Prof. Devi Prasad Mishra demanded that Bharat Ratna be given to Dr. Verghese Kurien.
