On Tuesday night in Nagar Panchayat Ward 9 Post Office Road under Singheshwar police station area of Madhepura Sadar sub-division, unknown thieves broke the shutter and safe of a jewelery shop and stole jewelery worth about Rs 50 lakh.
Angered by the incident of theft, the local shopkeepers closed their shops under the leadership of the trade union Singheshwar and started demanding the arrest of the thieves as soon as possible.
Local businessmen have also blocked the main road NH 106 due to this. Local RJD MLA Chandrahas Choupal, who reached the spot, has also demanded an early resolution of the matter.

Rajkumar Swarnakar, owner of Kumar Jewelers, told that at 4 o’clock on Wednesday morning, the guards of the Nagar Panchayat informed him that the shutter of the shop was broken. On going inside, it was found that the thieves cut it by overturning the safe kept in the shop and took away all the expensive jewelery kept in it. Everything else in the shop was scattered here and there. None of the items were in their place.
