The water level of Gandak river has started rising due to continuous release of water from Balmiki Nagar barrage in Gopalganj. Due to which there is an atmosphere of panic among the people of the surrounding area including Diara area, as well as due to the rising water level of the river, leakage has started in the Sikatia dam in Salempur of Barauli block. However, the Water Resources and Flood Control Department is working on a war footing to strengthen the dam and repair it.
The same is being camped on the dam by the officials of Water Resources and Flood Control Department so that the dam can be strengthened by working shift wise day and night. Let us inform that due to heavy rains in the Terai areas of Nepal, 36 gates of the Balmiki Nagar barrage have been opened, due to which the water level of the river is increasing continuously. More than two and a half lakh water has been crossed in the last days, and then 4 lakh 40 thousand water has been crossed, which is likely to come till Saturday.
Due to the rising water level of the river, the water has slowly started spreading in the Diara area, while the dam has started leaking in the middle of it. With the leakage in the dam, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people of the surrounding area, although the water resources happened in time.
