In Begusarai, a woman was accused of being a witch and beaten up.

Late Saturday evening in Begusarai, after accusing a woman of being a witch, dragged her out of the house and brutally thrashed her with sticks and iron rods, injuring her seriously. In a hurry, the family members admitted the victim woman to Sadar Hospital Begusarai for treatment where her condition remains critical. The incident is of Sahebpur Kamal police station area. The injured woman has been identified as Vimala Devi, about 70-year-old wife of Nityanand Gupta alias Ganesh Thakur, a resident of Ward No. 13 West Sanha village of Sahebpur Kamal police station area.

The family members told that the daughter of Dinesh Saav, a resident of the locality, died after a long illness. He told that putting the responsibility of the death on the victim woman, dragged her out of the house and while dragging her on the road, attacked her with sticks and iron rods and seriously injured her. Injured woman Vimla Devi told that the daughter of Dilip Shah, a resident of the village, was already ill. He died due to illness. After this death, he started calling her a witch and asked to revive my daughter. In no time, they dragged him out of the house and started beating him.

He told that there was no dispute before. The relative told that the woman’s husband is blind. And husband and wife lived in the house. Today, being disabled, he could not save his wife. Then later somehow he called his relative and hurriedly picked up the woman from that place and brought her to Sadar Hospital Begusarai for treatment. He told that no one helped him. The accused kept getting thrashed and the people remained spectators. He said that when the situation became half-dead, he left him. Then in a bleeding condition, the family members admitted her to the local PHC for treatment, where the doctors referred the serious victim to Sadar for better treatment.

On the other hand, in relation to this incident, Sahebpur Kamal police station president Dinesh Kumar said that a woman was beaten and injured by Dinesh Saav, a resident of the village, on the charge of witchcraft. At present, a written application has been made by the relatives of the victim, action is being taken according to the applicant.
