The Ministry of Home Affairs today suspended AGMUT cadre senior IAS officer Jitendra Narayan with immediate effect. The ministry had received a report on October 16 from the Andaman and Nicobar Police regarding the alleged sexual harassment of a woman by the then Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Jitendra Narayan and others. Jitendra Narayan AGMUT is a 1990 batch IAS officer.
Home Minister gave strict action
In view of the indication of serious misconduct on the part of IAS Jitendra Narayan and the possibility of misuse of official position in this report, the Union Home Minister directed to take immediate strict action against the officer concerned as per law. After this, IAS Jitendra Narayan has been suspended with immediate effect and disciplinary action has been ordered against him.
FIR registered, separate action in criminal case
The Central Government is committed to ensure zero tolerance to the acts of indiscipline of its officers, irrespective of their rank and status, especially in respect of incidents involving the dignity of women. An FIR has been registered in this case and separate action is being taken by the SIT of Andaman and Nicobar Police in the criminal case.

According to the statement, the ministry had on Sunday received a report from the Andaman and Nicobar Police regarding the alleged sexual assault of a woman by Narayan and others while he was serving as the chief secretary of the archipelago. According to the statement, the report had indicated serious misconduct and misuse of official position by Narayan, a 1990 batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed for immediate strict action against the concerned officer as per law. Narayan has been suspended with immediate effect and disciplinary action has been ordered against him, the statement said.
