ISRO is going to launch its three missions this year. Under which the missions are Chandrayaan-3, Gaganyaan and Aditya L-1. The preparations for Chandrayaan-3 are almost complete.
On March 26 this year, ISRO created a record by launching its heaviest rocket LVM-3. Not only this, 36 satellites of OneWeb were also released into space through this rocket. But ISRO is not going to stop here. Many historic missions are to be launched by the end of 2023 which will showcase the strength of India’s space sector to the world. Let us know which are the major missions of ISRO in 2023?
Launching of Chandrayaan-3 mission by the middle of this year (Chandrayaan 3 launch date)
According to ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somnath, the Chandrayaan-3 mission is in its final stages. It is fully integrated. At present, some improvement work is being done, and through a lot of simulations and tests, efforts are being made to make the mission a success. Probably its launch can happen by the middle of this year.
What is Chandrayaan-3
The Chandrayaan-3 mission is a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2 of July 2019 which aimed to land a rover on the south pole of the Moon. It will have an orbiter and a landing module. However, this orbiter will not be equipped with scientific instruments like Chandrayaan-2. Its functions will be limited to taking the lander to the moon, monitoring the landing from its orbit and communication between the lander and the earth station.
Launching of Aditya-L1 (Aditya L1 Launch Date)
Aditya-L1, India’s first solar mission, will also be launched into space in the middle of this year. Speaking at the 4th Indian Planetary Science Conference, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said Aditya-L1 would prove to be a very unique mission with solar observation capability for which instruments have already been delivered and ISRO is in the process of integrating them into the satellite.
What is Aditya-L1 mission
The Aditya-L1 spacecraft will be placed in the L1 orbit between the Earth and the Sun. That is, the first Lagrangian point between the Sun and the Earth system. This is where Aditya-L1 will be deployed. Its main purpose is to study about the Sun.
Gaganyaan Mission (Gaganyaan Launch Date)
ISRO’s Gaganyaan mission may be launched by the end of the year 2023 or by the beginning of 2024 but it has not been officially announced yet. Under this mission, three space missions will be sent into orbit. Of these three missions, 2 will be unmanned, while one will be a manned mission.
