When FATF took Pakistan out of the gray list, Myanmar was put on the black list for the first time. In this it is placed with Iran and North Korea. FATF President T. Raja Kumar of Singapore told that Russia has been barred from participating in all future plans after attacking Ukraine.
Ever since Russia attacked Ukraine, all major countries have imposed strict sanctions on it. From Russian people to companies, Russia has suffered the brunt of attacking Ukraine. In addition, the FATF has decided to impose additional sanctions on all role of Russia after the completion of the meeting. The task force has expanded the restrictions imposed in June. It has also been barred from participating in current and future FATF projects.
The prince told a press conference after the FATF’s two-day session on Friday that by attacking Ukraine, Russia was violating the FATF’s core principles of promoting security and financing. According to him, Pakistan did a good job on all 34 points, but it still needs to do more work in this direction. The FATF will continue to encourage Pakistan to cooperate with its Asia Pacific Group (APG) to combat terror financing and money laundering.
The coup in Myanmar has caused instability, which the FATF also expressed concern. According to the FATF, Myanmar failed to meet its action plan, so the FATF blacklisted Myanmar.
Pakistan will make efforts to get financial help
After leaving the gray list, Pakistan will make efforts to get financial help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and European Union (EU) to deal with the economic crisis.
Congo, Tanzania and Mozambique included
The FATF has included the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Iran and Mozambique in its gray list. Along with Pakistan, Nicaragua has also been evacuated from it.
