Drug smuggling is not stopping in Assam, security forces recovered drugs worth crores

Guwahati: In Assam, security forces are continuously running a campaign against drug trade. He is also getting success in this campaign. Police have seized narcotics worth Rs 3.5 crore in Karimganj district. Three people have been arrested in this connection. Karimganj SP Partha Pratim Das said, “Acting on a tip-off, we launched an operation on Friday night in Ratbari area adjacent to the Mizoram border. We stopped a vehicle coming from Mizoram side, which had several soap boxes containing narcotics. Was kept hidden.”

563 grams of heroin recovered.

During this period, the police recovered at least 563 grams of heroin from 52 soap boxes. Those arrested have been identified as Ghiyas Uddin, Numan Uddin and Abu Bakar. Among them, Ghiyas Uddin is a native of Tripura, while two others are from Karimganj district. The police have interrogated all three to unearth further links in interstate drug trafficking. Further investigation is underway.

Drugs worth crores were recovered in the month of September.

Earlier in early September, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had arrested two people on charges of smuggling 47 kg of methamphetamine tablets (4.70 lakh tablets) in a truck in Cachar district of Assam. The value of the seized tablets in the global illicit market was estimated to be more than Rs 47 crore. An official of the Directorate said on Saturday that this consignment of drugs was seized by the agency on September 7. “Based on intelligence inputs, surveillance was carried out for 10 to 13 days to trace the consignment. The DRI team intercepted a truck carrying drugs on September 7. Upon thorough inspection and checking, large quantities of drugs were found in the compartments,” the officer said. Drugs were found hidden in quantity.”
