    Mahaparv Chhath Puja is starting from 28th October with Nahay Khay. Kharna will be celebrated on 29 October. On 30th October, Chhath Vrat will offer Arghya to the setting Sun God and on 31st October, Chhath Vrat will be concluded by offering Chhath Vrati Arghya to the rising Sun God. However, preparations are going on in full swing for this in Bettiah. In the city’s Sagar Pokhara, Uttarwari Pokhara, Bus Stand, Sant Ghat, arrangements for puja pandals and cleanliness are being done on a large scale by the Chhath Puja Committee.

    However, the Sant Ghat Sun Temple is the main attraction in the entire city. Lakhs of devotees reach here and perform Chhath. It is situated on the banks of river Chandravat on the west and south corner of Bettiah city. Here in the 16th-17th century, Queen Janaki Kunwar, the queen of Bettiah Raj, used to come daily from her palace through the tunnel to bathe on the banks of the Chandrawal river and worship there. Jagarnath Prasad, a resident of Sant Ghat, told that here Queen Janaki Kunwar, the queen of Bettiah Raj, had first observed Chhath fast, after which the then king Harendra Pratap got the Sun temple built here. And here the Chhath fast began. Today, lakhs of Chhath Vratis reach here to perform Chhath Puja.
