Corona will be strictly investigated at Gaya Airport: Fear of new variant on Dalai Lama’s program, advisory issued

Advisory has been issued by the district administration regarding the Dalai Lama’s stay in Bodh Gaya and his three-day discourse in view of new variants of corona infection being found in different countries of the world and increasing scope of infection. Bodh Gaya is being kept in alert mode. Masks have been made compulsory in the discourse program of the Dalai Lama. Along with this, it has been asked to increase the scope of corona investigation of air passengers coming to Gaya airport. Earlier this test was being done only two percent, now this test will have to be done five percent every day.

Due to the program of Dalai Lama, 4-5 international flights are landing in Gaya everyday. Every passenger landing in Gaya has been ordered to be screened at the airport. On this issue, DM Dr. Thiagarajan SM, after holding a meeting with the officials of the health department including the civil surgeon and the Tibetan Administration, has directed to take special precautions to prevent corona infection in the district.

Talks have been held with the organizer of the Dalai Lama Trust to exercise caution during His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teaching at the Kalachakra Maidan. The Trust has assured that all the devotees attending His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teaching at Kalachakra Maidan on December 29, 30 and 31 will compulsorily participate in the teaching wearing masks. Advisory is also being issued by the Dalai Lama Trust. Along with this, the DM has instructed the civil surgeon to issue advisory for the use of masks in all the areas of the entire district. Instructions have been given to make people aware to wear masks.

DM told that 4 to 5 international flights are arriving daily at Gaya International Airport. A team is deputed for Corona investigation at Gaya Airport. Every day randomly 2% passengers were being sampled for corona, which has been increased to 5%. International flights of pilgrims coming from Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar have not found any positive case in all the tests done so far in the last 01 week. Said that no one needs to panic. 102 people have been tested at the airport in the last 1 week, in which not a single person was found positive.
