Bridge construction in Sitamarhi not completed even in 8 years: People’s life with the help of boat, bridge being built at a cost of 125 crores

The bridge could not be constructed even after about eight years on Belsand Bagmati river Chandauli ghat in Sitamarhi district. Because of which the life of thousands of families in dozens of villages is going on with the help of chachari and boat. Due to the negligence of the contractor and apathy of the Bridge Construction Corporation, the construction of the bridge is incomplete even after three years of the deadline.

Dozens of villages including Maulananagar, Dariapur, Dumra, Nunaura, Pachnaur of Belsand block as well as lakhs of people of Tariyani block have to cross the river with the help of Chachari or boat for health facilities including Block Office, Sub-Divisional Office, Civil Court. It is said that after the construction of this bridge, it will be very convenient to go to the neighboring district of Muzaffarpur, Shivhar. The Chachri, built 100 meters away from the bridge construction site, got washed away in the recent spate in the river. Due to farming being done on the other side of the river, people of many villages on this side of the river also have to cross the river for cattle feed apart from farming. For this reason, every year after the rains, the Chachari bridge is constructed with public cooperation. This Chachari bridge flows into the stream of Bagmati river.

The work was to be completed two and a half years ago

To solve the problems of the people of the area, on the initiative of the then MLA Sunita Singh, just before the 2015 assembly elections, the foundation stone of the bridge construction work was laid. The construction work of this bridge and approach road was to be completed before the month of June 2019 at a cost of 125 crores. Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation handed over the construction work contract to Tushar Construction Company. The construction work of the bridge has also not been completed by the sensor so far. By 2022, the construction of the pillars and the casting of the panels above it have been done. The work of connecting the span of the panel and construction of railing is pending. The work of land acquisition for the construction of approach has also not been started.
