There was chaos in Chhapra on Wednesday night when a thief caught hold of the bike owner with a stolen bike. The bike owner along with his friends started thrashing the bike thief on the beach road itself, after which a crowd of local people and passers-by started. The incident took place on the Sadha flyover of Nagar police station area. The youth who stole the bike was intoxicated, who was handed over to the police. At the same time there were three youths with the bike, in which two youths fled from the spot, while one thief was caught by the mob. The caught thief has been identified as Satyam Gupta age 19, resident of Basdila of Jalalpur police station area.

Giving information about the incident, bike owner Mantu Kumar said that he was sitting in a salon near Sadha Dhala for a haircut on Wednesday evening. His bike disappeared as soon as he went inside the salon, then it was informed from the local people that three youths were running away with the bike, after which the search was started with the help of local people and friends. Then 2 hours after the incident, three youths were caught with the stolen bike while going to the Sadha flyover. On being asked about the bike, the three thieves started running away with the bike. In this sequence, he was chased and caught, but taking advantage of the darkness, two other thieves escaped, while one thief got caught by the bike owner, after which the people handed over the young man to the local city police station. The caught thief told the local people that he is a student of class XII. He studies while living in Chhapra, but used to steal bikes to meet the expenses of modern lifestyle and drugs in the circle of friends.

Giving information about the incident, City Police Station President R.K. Verma told that on Wednesday night people caught a bike thief and handed him over to the police. The arrested person is expected to get a lot of information from the bike thieves gang in the area, although the police are making inquiries. After inquiry, further action will be taken under the judicial process. On the spot of the youth caught there, the police is engaged in the investigation.
