Arghya offered to the setting sun on the first day in Jamui
Chhath Puja was performed with reverence in Jamui city on Sunday. Women and men of Chhath worshiped the setting sun in the evening and prayed for peace. For Chhath Puja, devotees started coming out of their homes at four o’clock with the items of worship. Some of the women seeking vows reached Tripurari Ghat, Hanuman Ghat, Khairma Ghat, Malaypur Kadam Ghat and many ghats of the district while offering obeisances.
It is worth mentioning that Chhath Puja, which is observed on the Chhath of Kartik month, is specially observed by the people of Bihar. About 15-20 thousand people gather at these ghats in the city to give half. Chhath Puja fast was observed by these people on Sundays. There was great enthusiasm among the people regarding the fast. In the evening, the devotees of Chhath reached many ghats in the form of procession with bamboo baskets and soups decorated with fruits. After this, devotees worshiped the setting sun after taking holy bath at these places. And offered Argha with milk.
According to the belief, Sun God and Chhathi Maiya are brother and sister. Chhath fasting is done with rules and devotion. It is believed that by this fast performed with devotion, childless children get happiness. Wealth is attained and life is full of happiness and prosperity. People worship the Sun God during Chhath. A well-planned arrangement was made by the district administration for security.
