A new video of cheetahs from Namibia has surfaced in Kuno National Park in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. A female cheetah named Gamini was seen having fun with her five cubs. Gamini gave birth to 6 cubs in March
Let us tell you that in March this year, African female cheetah ‘Gamini’ gave birth to six cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Then Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav posted on his official X account and wrote, ‘The Gamini legacy is moving forward. There is no end to happiness. It is not five, but six cubs. The minister also shared pictures of six cubs of cheetah Gamini on the social media platform X.
The number of cheetahs increased to 27 in March
With the birth of 6 cubs in March, the number of cheetahs in Kuno National Park has increased to 27, including 14 male cubs. In March last year, female cheetah Jwala gave birth to four cubs but only one of them survived. Jwala gave birth to her second litter of four cubs in January this year. After this, cheetah Asha gave birth to three cubs.
Cheetahs were brought from Namibia in September 2022
On September 17, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released 8 Namibian cheetahs into the enclosures of Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. These included five females and three males. In February 2023, another 12 cheetahs were brought to the park from South Africa. Gamini is part of the group brought from South Africa.
