Indian Railways: Indian Railways is continuously developing itself and providing facilities to the passengers. Meanwhile, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said on Monday that at least 200 railway stations across the country will be rejuvenated with modern facilities. He said this at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a coach maintenance factory at Aurangabad railway station in Maharashtra. Vaishnav said, “The tender process has been completed for 47 railway stations, while work has started on 32 stations. The railways are being rejuvenated.
He said, “The central government has prepared a master plan for the rejuvenation of 200 railway stations. Overhead space will be created at the stations which will have world class facilities including waiting lounge and food court apart from children’s entertainment facilities.
Railway stations will act as a ‘platform’ for the sale of regional products
Vaishnav also said that the railway stations would act as a ‘platform’ for the sale of regional products. Referring to the contribution of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra in the construction of Vande Bharat train, the Railway Minister said, “In future, there will be 400 ‘Vande Bharat’ trains in the country. Of these, 100 trains will be manufactured at a coach factory located in Latur, Marathwada. Necessary changes are already being made in the factory.
He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana, all parts of the country are now being connected either through highways or railways and some parts of Marathwada region will also be connected under this scheme. Vaishnav said the current capacity of the Aurangabad-based coach maintenance factory is 18 coaches, but leader of opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve has demanded to increase it to 24 coaches. The Railway Minister said that he has directed the officials to review the demand of Danve and send the proposal in the next 15 days.
