    20 years sentence in minor rape case: ADJ I in Jamui sentenced, also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000

    Special Judge ADJ Pratham Anant Singh of POCSO Court in Jamui has sentenced 45-year-old Sheetal Manjhi, an accused of raping a 13-year-old minor girl in the year 2019, to 20 years rigorous imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of 20 thousand rupees has also been imposed. Along with this, instead of not paying the amount of fine, it has been decided to give additional punishment of four months.

    It is said that ADJ Pratham Anant Singh, in his 20-page decision, sentenced Sheetal Manjhi to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after examining the statements of witnesses from both sides, the forensic lab’s investigation report, doctor’s report and testimony and other documents. Let us inform that in 2019, a 13-year-old girl resident of Malaypur police station area was raped by her neighbor Sheetal Manjhi by taking her to Narsauta forest in the name of bringing wood in the forest. The girl narrated the whole incident to her grandmother and an FIR was lodged by her grandmother in Malaypur police station.

    ADJ Pratham Anant Singh, after hearing the arguments of both sides and special PP Manoj Kumar Sharma and defense advocate Gopal Prasad during the trial in the special court of POCSO court in the case, sentenced and also imposed a fine. He said that it is not at all possible to compensate for the mental pain caused to a minor girl by such an incident. In such a situation, the compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh should also be paid to him immediately.
