Home Department officials said that a total of 856 people from India, Nepal and Bhutan have returned from Bangladesh in the last three days. Most of them are students. The Meghalaya government has issued a helpline number to help people stranded in Bangladesh.
Neighboring country Bangladesh is burning in the fire of violence these days. The protests that started on the issue of reservation in government jobs have taken a violent form across the country. People are migrating from the violence-affected country. Meanwhile, the process of return of Indians living in Bangladesh continues. On Saturday, 186 people returned via Dawki Chowki in West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. Officials said that these include 98 Nepalis and 88 Indians including eight students from Meghalaya. At the same time, America has issued a travel advisory for people traveling to Bangladesh.

The government is in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the safety of Assamese people living in and going to Bangladesh.
Karimganj DC said that 41 students from Assam have been brought back from Sutarkandi check post. DC and SP have talked to the students. Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav said that more students are expected to return from the border point. A magistrate and CO have been deployed on the border for 24 hours. He said that there is no possibility of tension in the border area.
People should think once before going to Bangladesh: America
The US has issued a travel advisory for Americans going to Bangladesh and has asked them to reconsider their trip once. If it is very important, travel to Bangladesh with caution. The US has told the passengers that communication services are down in Dhaka and the entire country. This may delay counseling. Passengers have to be cautious about crime in crowded areas. In the advisory, the US State Department has said that attacks can happen without any warning. Therefore, there is a need to be alert in public areas. Restrictions have also been imposed on the employees of the US Embassy in Bangladesh for security reasons. The State Department has asked people to avoid going to demonstrations and political gatherings.
Tamil Nadu starts helpline for Tamils stranded in Bangladesh
The Tamil Nadu government has issued a helpline for the safe return of Tamil people trapped in violence-hit Bangladesh. On the instructions of CM MK Stalin, the Commissionerate of Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils has contacted the Indian High Commission and Tamil organizations to collect details of Tamils living in Bangladesh.
